This is one of the best fantasy series ever. I particularly like the loyalty of Robb Stark and Stannis Baratheon's supporters against seemingly impossible odds, for obvious reasons.

Aegon and Dany are cool, but not as cool as Stannis the Mannis.

So, here is my big ASoIaF theory.
~Part One~
As you probably know, ASoIaF is heavily based upon the Wars of the Roses. The final victor of the Wars of the Roses was Henry Tudor. Henry Tudor's claim was not the best, as House Tudor was only a minor noble house from Wales, his royal blood coming from the marriage of Owen Tudor to Catherine of Valois, who was the widow of King Henry V. GRRM has stated that the victor of the war "will be a surprise".
So, it would seem that we need to look for characters who fit the general mold of Henry Tudor or at least have claims that are not being pressed at the moment.
In order of likelihood:
Aegon Targaryen AKA The Young Griff (Either Prince Rhaegar's surviving don or a Blackfyre)
Edric Storm (Robert Baratheon's bastard son by Delena Florent)
Garlan, Willas or Margaery Tyrell. (Possible due to the marriage of Margaery Tyrell to both Renly Baratheon and Joffrey Baratheon)
Gendry (Robert Baratheon's lowborn bastard, now a knight)

~Part Two~
Aegon as Henry Tudor.
Note: This theory assumes that Aegon is a member of House Blackfyre through the female line.
Aegon is by far the most similar to Henry Tudor of all the claimants to the Iron Throne. He, like Henry, is part of a cadet house with a questionable claim to the throne. He is also coming from across the English Channel/The Narrow Sea. He, like Henry is something of a dark horse, coming into the war late and unexpected.
Now, an interesting question about this theory is this: If Aegon is Henry, who is Elizabeth of York? This part of my theory ties into Maggy the Frog's prophecy about "a younger and more beautiful queen" who will take Cersei's place.
In my opinion the most likely candidate is Sansa Stark. I would be inclined to say Shireen or Myrcella, but odds of they are both going to die, plus the fact that Shireen is not more beatiful than Cersei. (Unless we are talking about interior beauty, which is certainly possible.) Sansa, in my opinion, is going to start playing the Game of Thrones. If she get's out of the grasp of Littlefinger (cursed be his name), she is capable of really becoming a capable leader. Also, as she really needs a good, strong man in her life, Aegon certainly fits the bill. In fact, the only other man who would be good for her is Willas Tyrell, but to be honest that ship has sailed.
~Part Three coming soon~

Also, about the North, Barbrey is an interesting wild card. She hates Ned's guts, but from what she has said, is either brutally honest, a Stark loyalist, or both.
" Barbrey: The bride weeps … Dressing her in grey and white serves no good if the girl is left to sob. The Freys might not care, but the northmen … they fear the Dreadfort, but they love the Starks. Theon: Not you. Barbrey: Not me, but the rest, yes. Old Whoresbane is only here because the Freys hold the Greatjon captive. And do you imagine the Hornwood men have forgotten the Bastard's last marriage, and how his lady wife was left to starve, chewing her own fingers? What do you think passes through their heads when they hear the new bride weeping? Valiant Ned's precious little girl. Lady Arya's sobs do us more harm than all of Lord Stannis's swords and spears. "
" Barbrey: Lord Wyman is not the only one who lost kin at your Red Wedding, Frey. Do you imagine Whoresbane loves you any better? If you did not hold the Greatjon, he would pull out your entrails and make you eat them, as Lady Hornwood ate her fingers. Flints, Cerwyns, Tallharts, Slates … they all had men with the Young Wolf. Roger: House Ryswell too. Even Dustins out of Barrowton. Barbrey: The north remembers, Frey. "

Knowing hardly anything about the series, my opinions are probably worthless, but here they are anyway:
Aegon VI Targaryen seems to be a perfect match for the signs of the prophecy of The Prince That Was Promised
1. The birth of a male child- Aegon (I know it's disputed that word was male child, but whatever).
2. The prince is of the blood of the dragon- Aegon is the heir of the House Targaryen.
3. Born amidst smoke- Aegon was born amidst Robert's Rebellion.
4. Born amidst salt - born at King's Landing by the sea.
5. Born beneath a bleeding star - born while a red comet was visible in the sky.
6. (Possibly) the return of dragons - Aegon is the exiled prince of Dragon Blood.
How much does prophecy effect the world of Westeros?

G.R.R. Martin doesn't strike me as one who would use such a clear cut prophecy in the style of Tolkien. It's much more probable that the Prince that was promised will turn out to be one of the current main characters, some random guy, or just not show up at all. Or more likely the title will be used as propaganda for the next ruler, whoever he or she is.
Still, the way the prophecy and Aegon's story match up did catch my eye.

On the subject of Aegon VI, there are a few issues about WHO he actually is. Some say he is Aegon Targaryen, son of Prince Rhaegar. Some say he is a descendant of House Blackfyre (A cadet branch of House Targaryen.) Some say he is just an impostor. I honestly can't say which, although the last possibility is very unlikely. You can read more about that here: awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Aegon_Targaryen/Theories#Possible_identities
